Exploding Stars – Signal Table Explanation

These are explanations to each section of the signals page. If something does not make sense, either email us or add a comment below.

General 

Date Line: The date the signals are for

Top Blue Line:  The name of the portfolio. The number in parentheses is the portfolio number.

WTD: The current week’s return. This includes open and closed positions.

MTD: The current month-to-date return of the portfolio. This includes open and closed positions.

YTD: The current -year-to-date return of the portfolio. This includes open and closed positions.

The MTD and YTD returns may not match results derived from the signals in the tables. MTD and YTD are calculated by running a backtest on the current historical data. This data may have changed slightly due to price corrections, dividends and other reasons.

 

Limit Entry Signals

New limit entry signals are shown as a green line

Symbol: The symbol of the stock

Date: The date that the limit order will be place for. This is the next market day

Action: The limit price to enter the short at. Background is green.

Close: The last closing price of the stock

% Alloc: The percentage of the portfolio to allocate to this position

% P/L: The percent profit or loss of the position at the close. Blank since not in the position

Target: The intraday target price of the position. Blank since not in the position

Full Name: The full name of the stock

Industry: The industry the stock belongs to

In this example. limit short orders would be place for MSTR at 283.22, W at 63.55 and LVLU at 18.77

Hold Positions

Symbol: The symbol of the stock

Date: Next trading date.

Action: Continue to hold position. No color for the background.

Close: The last closing price of the stock

% Alloc: The percentage of the portfolio to allocate to this position

% P/L: The current percent profit or loss of the position at the close.

Target: The intraday target price of the position.

Full Name: The full name of the stock

Industry: The industry the stock belongs to

In this example, HRTX and PTCT are holds. One must enter the profit target exit limit orders. For HRTX this limit price is 2.88 and for PTCT it is 33.85

Profit Target Hit

Profit Targets (gold highlighting) will appear the day after they are triggered.

Symbol: The symbol of the stock

Date: Date which stock hit profit target

Action: Target Hit means should be out of position intraday. Background color is gold.

Close: The exit price of the stock

% Alloc: The percentage of the portfolio to allocate to this position

% P/L: The percent profit or loss of the position at the close.

Target: Blank since position closed.

Full Name: The full name of the stock

Industry: The industry the stock belongs to

 

Exit Positions

Symbol: The symbol of the stock

Date: The next market day

Action: Cover position on the next day. Background color is red.

Close: The last closing price of the stock

% Alloc: The percentage of the portfolio to allocate to this position

% P/L: The percent profit or loss of the position at the close.

Target: Blank since exiting position.

Full Name: The full name of the stock

Industry: The industry the stock belongs to

In this example, ALT would be exited the next day. In backtesting we used average price. The reason is that we do not want everyone exiting at the same time. Cesar exits using InteractiveBrokers TWAP order during the first hour of trading.
